After expanding from two to 115 employees in just five years, Milhaus has outgrown its current location and moving to Fletcher Place on April 27, 2015.

Milhaus purchased and renovated the two-story, former Shirley Engraving property at 460 Virginia Ave. to include both office and retail. The company will have 8,900 square feet of space; nearly triple what it has now. About 65 employees will work in the new office; 50 additional employees are on location at mixed-use sites and property offices throughout the Midwest.

“It’s the perfect location for our employees and guests to work, dine, shop and live nearby,” said Tadd Miller, CEO, Milhaus. “True to our mission of conscious living, we want to be active members of the community and help enhance its growth.”

The design will blend modern elements with the historic brick building, built in 1876. In addition to being the former home of Shirley Engraving, the building once housed a moving company and a laundromat. Since Milhaus is focused on reuse, the new building include elements from previous locations such as doors from the current office and the former Bank One building, which is now Artistry.

One new feature will be an area dedicated to the Milhaus for-sale division. This ‘Options and Selections’ space will allow clients to personalize their new homes by viewing samples and new home features, working one-on-one with our staff.

Milhaus started in 2009, borrowing office space from the Wooden & McLaughlin law firm with two employees and an intern. In 2011, Milhaus moved to a two-bedroom townhome in the Maxwell building, where the company grew to 13 employees. In 2012, the company moved downstairs to a more formal office space, which currently houses more than 35 employees. Most of the company’s overall growth has come from the management division as Milhaus manages its own developments and other properties as well.

In addition to the Milhaus office, there is 3,300 square feet of available retail space along Virginia Avenue that will share outdoor space. The new office is also just down the street from one of the company’s first mixed-use developments, the Mozzo, that opened in early 2013.
