INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 21, 2018) – Milhaus, an award-winning developer, owner and operator of secondary market, Class A urban infill, mixed-use and multifamily residential buildings, announces an organizational strategy to support its expanding markets and employee growth.

The strategy creates regional leadership and enhances employee training and the resident experience. It also provides a structure for asset operations to provide sound management for the over $400 million in capital raised since October 2017. This gives Milhaus the structure to achieve its targeted goal of having 20,000 units in 10 markets by 2020.

To support the organizational strategy, commercial real estate veteran Chris Yeakey has joined the team as Vice President of Property Operations. Yeakey has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate at large institutional organizations. “Chris comes to us with incredible industry experience, management expertise and a fresh view to the multifamily sector. He’s a respected and proven leader who will drive Milhaus’ operational and portfolio performance in our long-term hold ownership strategy,” says Milhaus CEO Tadd Miller.

Yeakey most recently worked as a Managing Principal for Cushman and Wakefield (NYSE: CWK). Prior to that he spent 19 years at Duke Realty (NYSE: DRE), where he led asset and property management for a 42 million square-foot, mixed-use portfolio and oversaw the company’s risk management program. At Milhaus, he will lead the property management, IT, marketing, ancillary services and asset management teams.

Alex Jackiw, former President of Property Management, has been named Chief Experience Officer. She will work closely with Yeakey’s operations group and be responsible for formalizing training programs, implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives, elevating the employee and resident experience, generating third-party management opportunities and expanding the Milhaus brand.

“Alex is an industry icon as evidenced by her 2018 induction into the National Apartment Association Hall of Fame. Her expertise and experience are essential to our future. She is passionate about building the future leaders at Milhaus across all our divisions, and helping us drive the diversity that’s part of our culture,” says Miller.  “We are very excited to have this opportunity to invest more in our team and allow Alex to pursue her passion for education and training.”

With recent and projected future growth, Milhaus has created two strategic regions: Midwest and Florida. Each will be led by an Executive Vice President who will be the business leader representing markets in the region, drive the development pipeline, implement regional strategies and enhance communication for the teams in these regions. Milhaus is actively recruiting an Executive Vice President for the Florida region. Jeremy Stephenson, former President of Development, has been named Executive Vice President of the Midwest region and will be based in the Indianapolis Milhaus corporate office.

“Our success in finding depth in our existing markets and our expanding geographic footprint requires more in-market capacity, more connectivity of our people and a structure that will allow us to continue to be entrepreneurial at our scale,” says Miller. “Jeremy’s knowledge of our organization, his ability to focus on the Midwest and executive leadership focus will give us the capacity to increase our development pace as we transition to a larger portfolio of assets.”

Milhaus was founded in 2010 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Today, Milhaus has properties in nine cities, developed more than 4,600 units and employs over 250 professionals. Continuing to expand its footprint within the United States, Milhaus is pursuing strategic growth opportunities in new and existing markets to reach its goal of having 20,000 units in 10 markets by 2020. Milhaus currently has projects in Indianapolis, Ind.; Cincinnati, Oh.; Kansas City, Mo.; Memphis, Tenn.; Milwaukee, Wis.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Tampa, Fla.; St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Bonita Springs, Fla.
