Milhaus Announces Newest Kansas City Property

The $34.6 million project will add 263 apartment units to the upcoming Glade development in South Kansas City.

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 3, 2020) – Milhaus, a national award-winning developer, owner and operator of Class-A, in-fill and mixed-use developments, announces it has closed on a property within The Glade, a 325-acre mixed-use development in Kansas City, Missouri just minutes from downtown. Together with Ryan Companies US, Inc., Milhaus will co-develop the first project at The Glade which includes 263 garden-style apartment units. Construction is underway on the $34.6 million apartment project being built by Ryan Companies.

The Glade is located in one of the region’s most beautiful and natural settings and plans to include an office campus, sustainable agriculture, flex industrial, single family, multi-family and townhomes and a mix of retail buildings. The development is adjacent to Cerner Corporation’s Innovations Campus and popular Kansas City retreats including Swope Park, the city’s largest park with more than 50 miles of hiking and biking trails; the Kansas City Zoo; Hillcrest Golf and Country Club; open community gardens, soccer fields and more. To the south of the development, tree-filled tracts will remain undeveloped to further immerse the community in nature and outdoor activities.

The 8.6-acre Milhaus property will offer affordable living with a number of on-site amenities and proximity to the bustling South Kansas City area. The apartment property is anchored at 8601 Drury Ave. and will offer residents and visitors alike a walking/biking trail to connect to adjacent employment centers and recreational opportunities. Additional amenities will include a dog park, free bike storage, a clubhouse with a resident lounge, conference facilities, a fitness center, a pool, sun deck, fire pits, grills and much more.

Milhaus’ new, pet-friendly apartment development will offer studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units priced from $1,100 per month and will be fully amenitized. Milhaus is partnering with Ryan Companies; Davidson Architecture & Engineering; Helix; Taliaferro & Browne, Inc.; Landworks Studio; Apex Engineers, Inc.; and Lankford/Fender + Associates to bring the property to life.

Founded in 2010, Milhaus targets midsize cities with populations between 750,000 and 2 million people. The company’s current portfolio includes over 20 properties in eight states and nearly 4,200 units. This will be Milhaus’ fifth project in Kansas City.
