Good times for apartment investment

Following up on our trends outlook a few weeks ago, here is some evidence as published in Builder Magazine yesterday that the housing ownership rate is falling fast in the US. In fact, at the end of 2010 it stood at the same level as 1998 according to cited US Census data. “At 66.5%, the number was 0.4% below the previous quarter and down 0.7% year-over-year. As homeownership sank, the rental vacancy rate reached its lowest reading since the beginning of 2003, at 9.4% in the fourth quarter, down 1.3% on an annual basis.”
