Imagine watching an artistic piece literally change in front of you as the sun sets and the evening begins. It’s exactly what you’ll see if you visit the latest installation in the Cole-Noble Gallery at Artistry.

One Hour and Eleven Minutes: Closer to Life/Closer to Death is an installation work by artists Quincy Owens and Luke Crawley. It is an artistic continuation of their study of color, light in its various forms and how the passing of time affects the visual qualities of work. The work is highly activated during the day by natural light and changes in the evening through a combination of light sources and light play.

As part of IDADA’s First Friday gallery tour, Artistry will hold a public reception on Friday, February 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. Appetizers and drinks will be available during the reception.

“As the days grow longer and the nights shorter we are grateful for the sun but often forget that as life ebbs in one direction there is a constant balance,” said Quincy Owens. “This installation is paradoxically conflicted by the passing of time as it lives and dies simultaneously every day.”

Owens has exhibited across the Midwest and South, as well as Colorado and New York. He has gallery representation in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Vermont. His work can be found in collections across the United States in respected corporate and academic institutions, as well as private collections. For more information, visit www.quincyowensart.com.

Crawley has a wide spectrum of artistic interests, including sound art and fabrication, producing and playing music, sculpture and public art installations. He has exhibited in various venues throughout Indiana and Michigan.

Artistry is located at 451 E. Market Street in downtown Indianapolis and is a Milhaus development. The Cole Noble Gallery, located on the first floor features both permanent and rotating works of art. The gallery is curated by Q7 Associates, as part of Milhaus’ marketing and brand experience initiatives.
