Marketplace old photo of 600 block marketHad a great trip to Baltimore MD the other day, and spent a good part of the day with David Holmes and David Strouse. A quick tour of the historic Fells Point Marketplace showed an incredible opportunity for a very vibrant market. A vital waterfront market named after Englishman William Fell whose 1726 purchase led the way to a bustling seaport, the commercial heart of Baltimore at the time. The actual “Broadway Market” dates back to 1784, occupying it's current location since 1797, and its current building since 1864. It is clear that with a little tender loving care, this is going to be someplace special again in the near future.

David has created a redevelopment vision and cohesive plan including renovation, redevelopment, and new construction that will bring additional residential density and activity to an area that already has substantial retail activity. This initial phase of development anticipates 160 residential units and 45,000 sf of historic storefront retail that will transform the 600 block of Broadway and portions of the 700 and 800 blocks into a vibrant gateway for Fells Point.

This will be a historic tourist attraction in the middle of an active shopping, dining and entertainment area, whereby you can truly live the cliché live work and play.
