Slack brings more than 25 years of experience in real estate development and architecture to Milhaus’ growing Texas market.

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 6, 2021) – Milhaus, a national award-winning developer, owner and operator of Class-A multifamily properties, announces today that Dustin Slack has joined Milhaus as Vice President of Development for the Texas market. Slack has more than 25 years of experience in real estate development and architecture in the Southwest U.S. and will play a key role in growing Milhaus’ portfolio.

Slack joins Milhaus after serving as Vice President of Real Estate Development for Opus Development Company, LLC, where he identified market-rate multifamily development opportunities and oversaw projects through activation in Phoenix, Denver and the greater Southwestern U.S. market. At Opus, Slack was responsible for the development of more than 1,100 apartment units. Previously, Slack also served as Vice President, Multifamily, with Forestar Group, where his responsibilities included the pursuit, acquisition and development of multifamily projects.

“We’re delighted to have Dustin join us at Milhaus and grow our footprint in Texas,” said Milhaus CEO Tadd Miller. “Dustin’s robust multifamily market expertise and in-depth knowledge in the market will be invaluable to our team as we continue to execute on existing projects and build out the region.”

Slack has seen more than 8,500 multifamily units developed, planned or designed since the late 1990s. His experience will help guide and grow Milhaus’ Sunbelt market, particularly in Texas. In his new role, Slack will be responsible for creating development pipelines and executing development projects in Texas with his robust knowledge of the region. Milhaus announced its first Texas property in April 2021.

“I look forward to joining the Milhaus team, building upon Milhaus’ expertise in multifamily residential development, and opening a Texas office to provide additional attention and resources to some of the most dynamic growth markets in the country,” said Slack. “Having lived in Texas my entire life, I will be able to tap deep, long-standing, relationships in the Texas commercial real estate community to identify multifamily opportunities that align with Milhaus’ core value of community-based design, construction and long-term management principles.”

Slack earned his Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of Urban Land Institute, National Multi-Housing Council and Real Estate Council of Austin.
