Happy new year from Milhaus! 2014 was a tremendous year and much promise lies ahead in 2015.
As we take the time to focus more on our beliefs and our reasons for rejoicing, we thought we would share the background on a special tree, which allowed us to celebrate the season and our company values at the same time.

Milhaus recently participated in the second annual Holiday Tree Decorating Contest on Georgia Street, part of City Sidewalks presented by BMO Harris Bank. More than 30 local businesses and sports teams adorned trees with various themes.

Our tree team approached the contest like any other Milhaus project. Members represented multiple areas of expertise and backgrounds: development, property management, human resources and accounting. They held a brainstorming session, drew a schematic on a white board, and developed an action plan for the tree to be both creative and efficient. Ultimately the goal was to represent Milhaus’ conscious living values by reusing and recycling whenever possible.

The tree base was built out of an old pallet and the “M” from recycled wood. They were assembled in the Makers Room at Circa. The Maker’s Room is on the first floor of the historic building and was designed for residents to complete DIY projects.

The gray tubing is flexible conduit used for routing electrical wiring during construction. The lighting strands are Edison bulbs that we use in our sites, but are also very popular right now.Together our team created a tree we are proud to call our own, it reflects our focus on salvaging materials whenever possible, but also adding special touches which reflect today’s design elements.

Let's make it a great 2015!
