Anyone at Milhaus that you would like to shout out? Huge shout out to Jordan Hovanec for adapting to his new position and taking me under his wing. I've already learned so much from him and I am eager to learn more!

Addie Kittle

Financial Analyst Intern

Hometown: Clay City, Indiana

School & Class: Senior at Indiana State University

Area of Study: Finance

What is a new skill you've learned or a valuable experience you've had learned this summer? While a finance team member was out of office during the final weeks of my internship, I took on the challenge of being responsible for completing a few of his tasks while he was gone. This was great real-world analyst experience for me and helped get me out of my comfort zone!

What is something you love about Milhaus? The people at Milhaus are so great! I genuinely have enjoyed working in the Milhaus environment and getting a taste of the culture here. Everyone I have met/worked with has been so welcoming and friendly, it's honestly a great place to be.

What is something unique about you and how does this carry over to your professional life?

I've been an athlete my entire life, so I'm very familiar with working on a team and communicating with others. The transferrable skills I've learned through athletics have definitely carried over into my professional life. Communication, teamwork, time management, etc. Milhaus has helped grow those skills more as well!

Anyone at Milhaus that you would like to shout out? Shoutout to the entire finance department for being so welcoming/willing to help me learn!

Tyler Marks

Accounting Intern

Hometown: Plainfield, IN

School & Class: Ball State University, 5th year

Area of Study: Accounting w/ a minor in Construction Management

What is a new skill you've learned or a valuable experience you've had learned this summer? The overall experience of being able to work with a new accounting system is always valuable to help grow my knowledge of different transactions and processes. You can only learn so much in the classroom and often the real-world application of classroom knowledge isn't always seamless. The knowledge that I have picked up working with the accounting system at Milhaus will be a great experience to draw on in the future.

What is something you love about Milhaus? I have really enjoyed getting to meet and talk to new people. Everyone here is very friendly and easygoing. Not every company is as welcoming as Milhaus has been to me and it speaks volumes about the companies' culture and values.

Justin Siller

Construction Intern

School & Class: Ball State University. Graduating December 2021

Area of Study: Construction Management

What is a new skill you've learned or a valuable experience you've had learned this summer? Working with the change orders process from start to finish. Understanding the change that is in the field and how a subcontractor will move forward. Getting experience by following the change order to ensure that it is accurately being addressed and the correct payments are being made.

What has been the most fun part of the summer? I have really enjoyed being on the AYR project and have been able to expand my knowledge in the construction industry. I enjoyed getting to know other Milhaus through social hours and events.

Anyone at Milhaus that you would like to shout out? The AYR project team and my manager Patrick McMahon.

What is a new skill you've learned or a valuable experience you've had learned this summer? I learned how to properly cut drywall. An experience that hit hard for me was going on a safety walk my first day and knowing we had a lot to work on.

Has your experience this summer helped you learn what you want or what is important to you in your future career? If so, what? Something specific about Milhaus? This experience has shown me that I want to learn more about the multiple stages of building, and how to manage those stages. I like Milhaus's style of buildings and the programs that we use in the field.

Anyone at Milhaus that you would like to shout out? Paige Bell, she keeps an eye on all of us interns.

Tate O'Herren

Development Intern

School & Class: Senior at Indiana University

Area of Study: Finance & Real Estate

What is a new skill you've learned or a valuable experience you've had learned this summer? I've learned so much working on the development team. Doing the preliminary underwriting on deals has taught me a lot and forced me to think about what is realistic versus what would make the deal work. Additionally, being able to see all the costs associated over the life of a project has given me a greater overall understanding of development and how to think about it in today's terms.

What is something you love about Milhaus? Everyone's willingness to include you in a meeting you are interested in or sit down and walk you through something that you don't understand.

Zubair Matani

IT Intern

Hometown: Karachi, Pakistan

School & Class: Senior at UIndy and IUPUI

Area of Study: Computer Science & Computer Engineering

What is something you love about Milhaus? I love the culture at Milhaus. Everyone is so friendly and easy to talk to. Some of the events I was part of at Milhaus such as the fowling event and the Olympics cookout helps you to get a breather in the tough week at work we go through. Just focusing on the IT department, I love the fact that we are only 6 people, it allows me to learn and interact with everyone and learn new things every day from them. The fact that they listen and value my input makes me feel recognized and keeps me motivated to continue working hard.

Anyone at Milhaus that you would like to shout out? I would like to give a shoutout to Aaron, Matt, Adam and John for being so kind and helpful to me. They've always made me feel comfortable and I loved working with them this summer. Being my first internship, it's something I will always remember!
