According to, only 8% of people achieve their New Year's resolutions. #SayWhat This is why your gym is packed January through March and then turns into a ghost town. #WhereDidEverybodyGo Why do we think it's so hard to achieve our New Year's resolutions? We often establish S.M.A.R.T goals in our professional lives, but why are we not as good at making S.M.A.R.T goals in our personal lives?

S.M.A.R.T goals are (S)pecific (M)easurable (A)chievable ®esults-focused and (T)ime-bound. When we start the New Year, are our goals S.M.A.R.T? If your goal is to simply lose weight, we can easily convert it into a S.M.A.R.T goal. The S.M.A.R.T version of this goal would be, “I want to lose 50 pounds by December 31st.” This is specific, measurable, achievable, results-focused, and time-bound.

I personally think another reason why people don't achieve their resolutions is because they don't have a support system. The thing I love most about working at Milhaus is that teamwork is the center of everything we do. If your goal is to lose weight, let people around you know that so they can help keep you motivated and help hold you accountable. #WeAreAllInThisTogether

The Wellness Committee is excited to announce My Wellness Bucks as the 2016 Milhaus Wellness Program! We believe this plan will accomplish two goals: impact all employees regardless of geographic location and cater to each employee's specific wellness needs. At a high level, Milhaus will reimburse eligible employees up to $100 each quarter of 2016 for wellness related expenses. Additionally, the team has broadened the definition of “wellness” to include both physical and financial well-being such that the list of eligible expenses is extensive. Some eligible expenses include:

Gym Membership 
Exercise Class(es) (e.g. Zumba, yoga)
Fitness Tracking Device (e.g. Fitbit Jawbone Up)
Exercise DVDs
Weigh Watchers Fees (excludes food)
Financial Planning 
Stress Management 
Tobacco Cessation Resources
