Something is Sizzling at Highland Row

A popular Mississippi steakhouse is expanding to Memphis and to Highland Row.

Char, a new 220-seat American restaurant with wine bar, will open in July and will offer lunch, dinner, brunch and private dining seven days a week. The menu will feature fresh seafood, high-quality steaks and home-style sides.

“I have been looking for a Char location for years and the Highland Row project seemed to be a perfect fit,” said partner Ben Brock. “There is great energy on Highland and the university is a perfect neighbor. The restaurant will be in a wonderful neighborhood and is also a perfect meeting spot for downtowners and customers in East Memphis.”

The Memphis location will have an open floor plan with high ceilings, large windows and a stylish lounge area. It will also house two private dining rooms for special events and business meetings.

Char will be located in The Shops at Highland Row, which will include local as well as national retailers and restaurants.

Highland Row is a major new mixed-use project near the University of Memphis on Highland, just south of Central. As one of the most significant developments in the area in years, Highland Row will be a destination for those who want high quality shopping, dining as well as the cultural community on the University of Memphis campus.

Located on Highland just south of Central, Highland Row is a shared project between Milhaus Development LLC and Memphis-based Poag Shopping Centers LLC. The $56 million investment includes retail space, studio, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom residences and a parking garage.

The Residences at Highlnad Row is pet friendly and community amenities include a 24 hour fitness center, a swimming pool with aqua lounge, a makers room, private storage rooms, 24-hour maintenance, garage parking, interior bike storage and indoor/outdoor kitchens.

Apartment amenities include open concept floor plans, quartz countertops, in-wall USB ports, washer/dryers, stainless steel appliances, wood style floors, designer lighting fixtures, smooth-top stoves and walk-in closets.
