In just over four years, Milhaus has grown from a small group of visionaries to a large team of professionals developing mixed-use and residential projects across the Midwest. Now we need a bigger home for ourselves and we’re moving to Fletcher Place this spring.

True to our mission of enhancing neighborhoods and living consciously, we purchased the former Shirley Engraving property at 460 Virginia Ave and are repurposing the two-story building to include both office and retail space. The design will blend modern elements with the historic brick building.

It’s the perfect location for our employees and guests to work, dine, shop and live nearby. The May move will give us 8,900 square feet of office space, nearly triple what we have now. One new feature will be an area dedicated to Milhaus’ for-sale residences.

“Our new office will offer a larger ‘Options and Selections’ area so we can work with our clients to personalize their new homes,” said Micah Hill, director, For-Sale Housing. “Plenty of storage means a lot of samples and the large, bright space will be a great place to choose new home features.”

We won’t be alone at the new location; we’re also creating 3,300 square feet of retail space along Virginia Avenue that will share outdoor space with our offices. Also nearby will be one of our first mixed-use developments, the Mozzo, that opened in early 2013.

The new office has had quite a history as a variety of businesses since it was built in 1876. In addition to being the former home of Shirley Engraving, the building once housed a moving company and a laundromat.

Our old space will also be put to immediate use. Our current neighbor, Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc., will expand into the space at The Maxwell on Ohio Street.
